 | The Joy of the Lord is my Strength Dec 12, 2007 |
| As a mother who has struggled with infertility issues, this book really encouraged me to remember that God is in control. Bobbi shares her very personal story in a way that anyone who has struggled with infertility can relate to. I would imagine everyone could be encouraged by this book to trust that God is involved in all the details and HE works all things together miraculously! | | | | Evidence that God is in control! | Masterpiece of Joy by Bobbi Grubb gives the account of one couple as they experienced the emotional pain of infertility, but then found the joy of adoption. Those that are walking through these issues would thoroughly benefit from reading the Grubb's personal story. Even those that are not dealing with issues of infertility will be blessed as they see God's plan unfold. I was able to relate their experience to other areas of my life, and realize that even though in the midst of the storm, we cannot see what lies ahead, God is in control, and His purposes will be fulfilled. When we can truly grasp hold of that concept, we can rest in Him regardless of the uncertainty, disappointment, and chaos that may be going on around us. A definite must read!!!!! | | | | A wonderful story! Nov 13, 2007 |
| Masterpiece of Joy is a wonderful story. I was amazed at how God worked in the lives of this couple. Though they faced heartache, sorrow, and despair, they eventually found a way to cope and go on. Eventually, God blessed them in so many specific ways, it is amazing. The reader really feels what the author experienced, both sorrow and joy. It talks very openly about the physical and emotional difficulties of infertility, and the medical procedures involved in infertility testing. It also covers the decision making process in choosing open adoption. The reader will see the courage of birthparents who choose adoption and will be amazed how the adoption process resulted in peace and contentment for the birthmother as well. I think this book will provide valuable insight to infertile couples and their families, to couples considering adoption (and their families), and to birthparents considering adoption in an unplanned pregnancy. For others, it is just a great story you won't want to miss. | | | | A wonderful story about hope in the midst of pain Nov 11, 2007 |
One question that I often grapple with is why so many bad parents have children, and people who would be great parents struggle with infertility. While I have had no personal struggles with infertility, I know many who have. Frankly, things just don't seem fairly distributed.
The author of Masterpiece of Joy struggled with the same question--but on a deeply personal level. Bobbie and her husband experienced years of unexplained fertility before finally being blessed with a child through adoption.
As you read Masterpiece of Joy, you will struggle with the Grubbs through their pain. You will also rejoice with them in their triumphs--not just the final triumph of the actual adoption, but all of the smaller triumphs along the way as they learned to deal with the pain of infertility.
I shed many tears as I read this book, both of sadness and joy. Yet I came away with a sense of peace, and the beginnings of an answer to my original question. I may never understand completely why so many bad parents are blessed with children while good people struggle with infertility, but it is very clear why the Grubbs went through their struggles. God chose them to be Jay's parents, and this is the way that had to happen.
I recommend this book to anyone who is struggling with infertility or adoption, or anyone who simply wants to share in this couple's experience. But buyer beware: the picture of adoption is painted so beautifully, you might just start thinking you should consider the option yourself. I know I did--and I already have four children! | | | Write your own review about Masterpiece of Joy: From the Despair of Infertility to the Joy of Adoption
