| This book is a must read. Indeed there's lot to be said about the more natural approach as opposed to traditional medical methods. I don't have Cancer but like most people I know a lot of people who have died from it. But I also know several survivors that the medical profession 'wrote off'. They are all alive today and all followed a program very similar to the ones mentioned in this book. The book is important to read even if you don't have Cancer. Prevention as they say is better than cure. | I read this book over 13 years ago with my first diagnosis of invasive cancer. I was given a very poor prognosis and knew very little about cancer of any kind. I knew even less about fighting the odds and becoming a survivor. This book was easy to read at a time when everything in life was more difficult. It resonates truth and triumph. I reference Anne's story often and am so thankful that someone was kind enough to purchase this book and bring it to my home for me to read during my treatment. | This book gave me HOPE and a plan of action a few months ago, as I have breast cancer that has metastasized throughout my body. The surgeon who diagnosed me suggested that I purchase the book Death And Dying (don't ever believe your doctor, as only God knows His plans for you) but an acquaintance recommended A Cancer Battle Plan. Ann Frahm has been through the worst of it and survived. Now with her plan, combined with only 2 doses of chemo, I'm almost completely cancer free. Again, Ann gave me so much hope, and that's what people need more than anything when they get diagnosed. Since one out of two people are getting cancer, I highly recommend this book to everyone... that way you don't have to scramble to get information if you, your friends, or family get diagnosed. I'm thoroughly convinced that this plan of action could save the large majority of people with cancer, but people just aren't getting their hands on this type of information. The main problem with this book (and all of the 5 star reviews by the way) is the direct suggestion that following this plan is going to cure your cancer. Everyone who has had cancer or been with the loved one who has cancer should know that sometimes you can fight your very best fight and still not end up cancer free. It's not because you didn't "fight" or because you weren't spiritual enough or good enough. We have never liked this approach to cancer that portrays it as the good and righteous shall overcome the cancer. Sometimes it doesn't work that way.
Specifically, what is good about the book is the story of Anne and her experiences. Most people who have not been blessed with a good oncologist from the beginning (and isn't that almost everyone?) will appreciate her story. What is 'bad' is that a significant portion of the "plan" is enemas. (Search the book for "enema" and you will see what is written about it.) Coffee enemas every day (I think) for a week and then on a frequent basis thereafter. Enemas was just not something my sister was up to doing. Even though she was diagnosed at a late stage. I have found some alternative medicine approaches to cancer that advocates enemas. So if you are interested in this approach, there is some research out there about it. It is not something everyone is willing to do, though. Cancer patients go through so much as it is, I would hate to think they would also feel pressure to do something they may not really want to do.
Back to who will "win" the "battle" against cancer: I read Lance Armstrong's first book (It's Not About the Bike). One thing I really appreciated was when he wrote about what his doctor told him about patients who had become cancer free. His doctor told him that not everyone who has a great attitude and tries as hard as humanly possible will survive and that equally some of the most bitter people have miraculously overcome severely progressed cancer.
Don't believe all the hype about the book and give yourself permission (or the one you love permission) to not follow this plan. My sister has been given an official "NED" (no evidence of disease). We credit the outstanding care at MD Anderson, her resolve not to give up, a lot of prayer, AND the good fortune to have a cancer that could be controlled and eliminated. | | | | Why not a Best Seller?? | In reading a book like this I wonder why this is not a best seller. Since by here own story and too many people dieing from cancer you would think there would be a way for this to get more notice. Found this to be well written and covers an alternative treatment program I have read from other courses. Another good book in Breat Cancer? Breast Health! by Susun S. Weed. My mother dies from breast cancer and I think these books can do more for people than all the cancer walks put together. | | | Write your own review about A Cancer Battle Plan
