"Little Gems of Wisdom" by J.D. Kroft is a most valuable addition to my bookshelf. This is an inspired collection of wisdom; ever item is indeed a gem. I read the book, cover to cover, and now it has a permanent place on by bookshelf, both as a source for the appropriate quote, and for browsing when I need personal support and inspiration. I have purchased several copies to give to family and friends. The book is organized and cross-referenced for quickly locating just the quote I need.
JD Kroft has been collecting and using these maxims for most of his adult life. Organized by subject, it's easy for the reader to find just the right saying for the occasion, whether for a speach, for an article, or even better, to tell your child or grandchild. The sources of the quotes and sayings are wide and varied, including the Bible, famous people, and anonymous. More than a reference guide, this book is easy and entertaining to read. You can dive into a partcular subject or open it randomly; either way, once you start, it's hard to put down. On the same page, you'll be amused, inspired and provoked to thought. What are my qualifications as a reviewer of this book? First, I'm JD Kroft's 49 year old son, Mike, and I greatly respect and admire the author, and value the time he's spent on behalf of his children and grandchildren (and the rest of you) to assemble the concise wisdom of the ages. Secondly, I've read the book. At times I've looked for a quote about a particular topic. Once I've found it, I just keep reading. Other times I've just gone into the book randomly, as I sometimes do with a magazine, and read quotes from one topic to the next. This book is unique and would be an excellent addition to your library, or better yet be a great gift to your child, grandchild or other relative. Yes, I'm biased, yet beyond that the book is truly superb.
This rare collection of quotes and quips is ideal for speakers, ministers, or for anyone who loves to read "nuggets" of inspiration. The author categorizes the quotes by topics, such as: America, capitalism, business, honor, honesty, integriy, responsibility, and many other moral and ethical topics. Dr. D. James Kennedy loved this book so much he wrote the foreword!
