John Weaver writes a homey, open hearted account of his life from his difficult family beginnings to a sold out life for the Lord Jesus Christ. His passion throughout is compelling. He recounts details of his youth, his pranks and unhealthy behavior and tells of the pain when his parents divorced. He writes of the pathway to wholeness and the healing of his family and relationships. Today John is a sold out man of God, still passionate but in a healthy way, with purpose and without bitterness of his past. John Weaver's life is a wonderful example of the changing grace of God in one life and of the body of Christ coming alongside one another to heal and to help. His is a life well lived. I'd highly recommend it. You'll be encouraged!

The book clearly describes the transformational change of John Weaver from a highly mischievous and troublesome childhood in Virginia / North Carolina to a current position as a stable, God fearing, husband, father and humanitarian leader in the remote areas of Afghanistan. It is clear from "A Flame on the Front Line" that the flame was the spirit inside John's heart; the spirit of Jesus Christ.
The story teaches us that no matter what our past life choices are, the God of the Bible is a loving and merciful God and He wants us to return to Him so that we can be more like Him. John Weaver demonstrates through his extraordinary, God directed life, how a "flame" is developed by God and is utilized effectively with the poor, the downtrodden in the US, Afghanistan, or wherever "the front line" is where God has called one to serve Him.
Again, the story of John Weaver's life is an encouraging example to the world and it encourages me to want to be "A Flame on the Front Line".
